The buildings, largely traditional Spanish architecture, feature vibrant blue, green, or brown shutters, adding a dash of color to the otherwise serene landscape.

Alcalá was a busy fishing harbor, maybe not so busy these days but you can still watch local fishermen set out early in the morning on their weather-beaten boats.

The harbor is an ideal spot to take in the warm Tenerife sun during the day and in the evening, it’s a pleasure to walk along the promenade to watch the sunset as the sky turns a vibrant orange and red.

The village square, Plaza del Llano, is surrounded by a handful of authentic Canarian restaurants, coffee shops and local businesses. 

The seaside restaurants offer a variety of delicious seafood dishes prepared in traditional Canarian style and there’s plenty to choose from.

Alcalá is just over half an hour from the south airport with Playa San Juan being 5 minutes drive to the east and Los Gigantes 8 minutes drive to the west.
