Last Friday, 25th May 2012, the long awaited beach in Callao Salvaje finally had it’s inaugural opening. Dignitaries, celebrities and public alike enjoyed the speeches and pomp & ceremony for the official opening of the beach. The celebrations included local school children and adults in traditional costume.
It has been a long time coming, but the eventual opening was performed by the mayor of Adeje, Jose Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, who said that it was never too late for something good to happen and hoped that everyone that used the facility would enjoy it and look after it as well.
The 2 year development means that the beach has been greatly improved with a beautifully designed winding promenade with trees and shrubs, a bar/café area, for which there will soon be sent out a tender for the concession to run it.
I didn’t manage to get there on the opening day, but never-the-less there was a large crowed of people there to enjoy it and knowing the beach from the times that I have taken videos and written about it, I am sure it will be well used and enjoyed.
Let’s hope that the new beach in Callao Salvaje isn’t the last of the beaches to be improved in Tenerife.
