Guia de Isora – The Town

Guia de Isora, located in eastern Tenerife, is a tranquil town away from tourist crowds. Covering 143 km2, it’s divided into 17 distinct areas.

The coastal region includes the charming fishing village of Playa San Juan, now a serene tourist spot. Inland, at 580 meters above sea level, you’ll find towns like Guia de Isora, Chío, Tejina, and others.

Higher up are Chiguergue, Vera de Erques, El Jaral, and Las Fuentes. Tejina Mountain, at 1055 meters, is a Natural Monument with archaeological treasures.

The historic centre, with its Canarian architecture, was declared a Cultural Heritage site in 2009. Abajo Street, Arriba Street, Tagoro Street, and La Vera are key areas. Washhouses, once vital, still stand as part of the town’s cultural heritage.
